Part: ME-FIT  ·  Opening: 54mm  ·  Reads: 7 depths, in 1.25mm clicks

One number can't describe a shape. Two people with the same girth can be round, oval or a rounded triangle, and a shaped ring like the Pinnacle fits the shape, not the girth. The Fit Gauge measures the shape: seven readings around the shaft, taken at the same place every time.

How it works

  • A rigid ring with a V-shaped saddle at the top. The saddle rests on the top of the shaft, so the ring sits in the same position every time.
  • Seven numbered pins come in from the sides and underneath. Push each one in until its pad just touches the skin. Each pin clicks every 1.25mm and stays where you leave it.
  • Read each pin at the arrow on its boss. The seven readings together rebuild the cross-section: width, depth, and where it's flat, round or pointed.
  • In testing, the girth from the gauge agreed with the PlaStim Caliper to about 1mm.

What you get

  • The ring, with the hole numbers 1 to 7 and a reading arrow on each boss.
  • Seven pins, each marked with its own hole number in large print at the tail end.

Using it

  • Park the pins first: pull each one out until the first line (no digit) clicks at the arrow. That clears the full opening.
  • Marks toward you, and the plain side toward the head. Slide the ring on, bring it up to where you want to measure, then push the pins in one at a time.
  • Good places to measure: just under the head, mid-shaft and at the base.
  • Don't store it with the pins pushed in: park them, so the springs rest.

Reading a pin

  • Read each pin at the pointer: the edge just above the arrow on its boss.
  • A line across the pin is a 10. The digit just before it says which: 1 = 10, 2 = 20, 3 = 30. A short tick on the edge is a 5. The very first line, with no digit, is 0 (the parked position).
  • Find the last line or tick showing before the pointer, then count the clicks past it: 1, 2 or 3 clicks add 1.25, 2.5 or 3.75. The fourth click brings the next mark to the pointer.
  • Example (in the photo): the 10 line is the last mark showing, and the pin is two clicks past it: 10 + 2.5 = 12.5.
  • A digit can sit at the pointer while its line is still hidden under the roof. Ignore it: only a line or tick you can see counts.
  • The big number at the tail end is the pin's number (1 to 7), not a reading.

What to do with your readings

Enter them in the Ring Sizing calculator. Pick the ring you're sizing for, choose Fit Gauge, enter all seven readings, and it draws your cross-section and tells you which size (and shape) to order.

Works with the caliper

The PlaStim Caliper gives widths, depths and length. The Fit Gauge adds the shape. For round rings the caliper alone is enough. For shaped rings like the Pinnacle, the gauge tells us more.

Print it yourself

Pick Step Files Only and the order is no charge: the STEP files for the ring and all seven pins, in two-colour and one-colour versions. PLA, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.20mm layers, no supports, every part flat as modelled. Print pin 4 first as a check: it should click cleanly in the ring and its digits should read clearly.
